Anne B. Gass

Anne B. Gass, author of:  We Demand: The Suffrage Road Trip, a historical fiction novel based on the true story of a 1915 road trip for the suffrage cause, was Empowering Women TV’s guest in one of our Maine-based studio for our Authors Series!

Anne’s first book was Voting Down the Rose: Florence Brooks Whitehouse and Maine’s Fight for Woman Suffrage, a biography that came out in 2014. It’s about her great-grandmother, a Maine suffrage leader from 1913-1920.

Anne is a “women’s rights history activist” – she loves sharing what she’s learned about this rich history with others, hoping to inspire their activism! She lectures regularly on suffrage history at libraries, historical societies, high schools, colleges, and for news media- including guest appearances on Maine Public Radio’s Maine Calling and a recent national CBS Evening News segment for Women’s Equality Day.

Anne serves on the steering committee of the Maine Suffrage Centennial Collaborative, is the Maine Coordinator for the National Votes for Women Trail, and was appointed to Maine’s Permanent Commission on the Status of Women in 2019.

In 1993 she founded ABG Consulting LLC, a small business that supports nonprofits, local and state governments, and foundations to help people in need build stable, productive lives.
