Thyonne Gordon

Dr. Thyonne Gordon specializes in Social Transformation of individuals and communities through communications, programming and social change.  Her work speaks to youth in particular, providing innovative change methods to enhance their future.

Dr. Gordon has served as Executive Director of youth organizations, CoachArt & A Place Called Home advocating education, arts, athletics and health & well being for underserved youth from chronic illness and autism to at-risk and environmental issues.

Dr. Gordon created The Thyonne Group as a consulting agency when business, friends and associates extensively sought her out as a professional speaker and consultant. She has spearheaded two successful investment clubs—the Matrix Group and Fundamentals; implemented programs to help communities bond (FLAVORS of Ethnic L.A. bringing together the Latino, Asian and African American communities through food; and The Black College Experience providing a Black College Alumni network to share their experiences with potential students and provide scholarships). Most recently, Dr. Gordon created the “Be Girlz Project” inspiring girls globally to discover the beauty and strength of their minds and spirits — teaching skills that empower them to more productive lifestyles.

Gordon is an accomplished writer and has been featured in Chicken Soup for the African American Soul. Her company, A Writer’s Place, has writing services for upcoming and existing writers.  A prominent member of the philanthropic community she participates in numerous coalitions and holds appointments on various boards and committees including Pacifica University in Santa Barbara and Project MuszEd in Los Angeles. She is a member of the Delta Sigma Sorority, the Black MBA Association and Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Gordon received her B.A. in Communications from Howard University in 1984; her Executive MBA from Pepperdine in 2001 and her Ph.D from Fielding University in January of 2007.  Her doctoral studies focused on Human and Organizational Development with an emphasis on inner city girls and resiliency.

Dr. Gordon is currently working on The Enlightened Giver Project as a philanthropy manager / connector for high net worth individuals and companies.   She lives in Los Angeles, CA.
