Caitlin Avery

Caitlin Avery

Caitlin Avery was interviewed at our Boston-Hub studio.  Her interview was a poignant reminder that even in the most affluent towns, our teens struggle with stresses beyond what many are aware.  She spoke candidly about her ceasing a habit of “cutting.”  Caitlin revealed what the “cutting” is often symbolic of and how best to begin difficult conversations with our adolescent children.

Caitlin began her writing adventure as a poet. While receiving a Theater degree at the University of Colorado, she was twice published in The National Library of Poetry’s Anthology. Her first novel, Lightning in my Wires, was published in 2010, and she is hard at work on her second book, The Last Cruz.

A veteran personal trainer, Caitlin enjoys a flexible part-time job that allows her plenty of time to write. An avid outdoor enthusiast, she is a competitive triathlete and a motorcyclist. Her favorite family time activities include hiking, biking, and camping.
